There truly is never a better time to be in Minnesota than in the fall. One of our favorite fall activities is to enjoy a lovely hard cider and go apple picking at one of the many unique Minnesota Apple Orchards.
This year we decided to explore some new Apple Orchards surrounding the Twin Cities. We tapped into our amazing Instagram community and checked out many of the suggestions that were shared with us.
We compiled a fabulous list of Minnesota Apple Orchards for you to try out this year. Let us know which one you are most excited to visit!
1. Aamodts
6428 Manning Ave N, Stillwater, MN 55082
Aamodts is one of those Apple Orchards where you can spend the entire day, simply because there is just that many activities to do there.
In addition to Apple Orchards, they also have a Sunflower Field and a Grape Vineyard on site through their collaboration with St. Croix Vineyards.
We did a mini wine tasting and brought home a delicious Pinot Noir! Stop in their shop for handmade gifts and fall themed baked goods like Apple Pie and Oatmeal Apple Cookies.
For adult beverages you have your choice of hard ciders or wine from their on site vineyards. We did a little of both!
Another unique highlight of Aamodts Orchard is they have food trucks! Try their Apple Bratwurst, Honeycrisp Apple Salsa, or Apple Cinnamon Donuts. So good!
2. Fireside Orchard
2225 Lonsdale Blvd E, Northfield, MN 55057
If you are looking for an Apple Farm that is a little smaller in size, this is a great option! Fireside Orchard is no doubt the most charming Apple Orchard in Minnesota!
Right when you walk up, you’ll notice their pond and garden on site.
Relax under their giant pavilion and marvel at the string lights hung throughout the ceiling.
It’s the perfect spot if you are looking to plan a fall date night or want to get dressed up and take pictures with your girls!
They don’t offer apple picking, but you can purchase their delicious applies from inside their shop. Make sure you grab one of their Apple Pies to go as well!
3. Sweetland Orchard
26205 Fairlawn Ave, Webster, MN 55088
Not everyone wants an Apple Orchard that comes with all the bells and whistles. Check out Sweetland Orchard if you are in the mood for a more private experience.
This family owned Minnesota Apple Orchard allows you to walk through their 20 acres of land that they manage and operate with the help of their friends.
Unlike most Apple Orchards, this one has picnic tables scattered throughout the orchard so that you can have your own private picnic with a view! So smart.
Our favorite part about this Apple Orchard is their infamous white barn. Here you can purchase their delicious hard ciders and Apple Cinnamon Donuts.
Dogs allowed on site!
4. Whistling Well Farm
8973 St Croix Trail S, Hastings, MN 55033
There are not many places that are offering Apple Picking these days due to Covid. So we were super excited that Whistling Well Farm was still allowing visitors to pick apples safely.
It costs $15 for a medium sized bag and $25 for a large. We did the medium size bag and left with plenty of apples.
In addition to an incredible Apple Orchard, they also have a popular Pumpkin Patch so you can do all your fall activities in one stop!
Grab one of their red wagons and take a photo shoot fill it up with apples and pumpkins to take home.
There is a small shop where you can purchase things like homemade Pumpkin Butter, jellies, and Apple Pancake Mix.
They also have a mini farm with goats and chickens that you can feed when you’re done feeding yourself!
5. Afton Apple Orchard
14421 90th St S, Hastings, MN 55033
Okay, so this is the only Minnesota Apple Orchard on our list that isn’t free to get in. But trust us when we say that the experience is worth the $5 admission price.
What does that include? A tracker hayride that takes you around the entire farm. A giant swing made of wood. A playground utopia to drop off the kids.
They also offer Apple Picking, Pumpkin Picking, Strawberry Picking, and Raspberry Picking. We’d highly recommend Raspberry Picking because it’s a less crowded activity, and something that’s not offered at most Apple Orchards in Minnesota.
It’s a little more commercial than the other Minnesota Apple Orchards, but a fun experience to do with the whole family. They even have a 15 acre Corn Maze to explore for an additional fee.
If you are looking for a kid-less experience than you might want to skip this one.
Just know that this place fills up quickly, so make sure to get there early!
6. Pine Tree Apple Orchard
450 Apple Orchard Rd, White Bear Lake, MN 55110
Pine Tree is another very popular Apple Orchard in Minnesota.
Some of the highlights include a 30 minute Corn Maze, their Apple Cider Freezies, and a 6-acre Pumpkin Patch.
They also offer Strawberry Picking through their dazzling Strawberry field earlier in the year.
What’s unique about this Apple Orchard is that they put on special events throughout the year. So one day they might have live music. Another day it may be an organized jog through their orchard or a wine tasting.
You can check out their Event Calendar to see what cool things they have coming up!
7. Applewood Orchard
22702 Hamburg Ave, Lakeville, MN 55044
The last Minnesota Apple Orchard on the list is perfect if your goal is to leave with a variety of apples.
Have you heard of Applewood Orchard in Lakeville?
Here they have 14 different apple varieties that you can choose from—and you get to pick them yourself! Honeycrisp, Sweet Tangos, and First Kiss apples to name a few types offered.
If you are looking for an affordable spot to pick apples, add this orchard to your list.
