Where to Stay for an NYC Girls Trip

Photo of two young women kneeling on a bed in a hotel looking to the left

So you decided to plan a girls trip to NYC? Fun! Figuring out where to stay for an NYC girls trip is an important next step.

When we plan a girls trip, there are a few key factors when it comes to determining where to stay, such as:

What’s your budget?

Do you want to be centrally located or off the beaten path?

How much time will you be spending at your destination?

How important are amenities?

Is there easy access to public transportation and/or ride shares?

The Lower East Side (LES) in New York’s Manhattan area, is the perfect neighborhood for your trip’s home-base.

We’ll cover why it’s the ideal area for an NYC girls trip, what the LES has to offer, and specific accommodations on where to stay for an NYC Girls Trip.

The Ultimate Guide for a Non-Touristy Girls Trip in NYC

WHERE TO STAY FOR AN NYC GIRLS TRIP

There are over 300 neighborhoods within the 5 boroughs of New York City – Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Staten Island. To say that it is overwhelming to decide which area to stay in is a serious understatement.

Manhattan and Brooklyn are the two most popular boroughs for travelers, because they are home to many iconic things to do in NYC.

Manhattan – land of the Statue of Liberty, Broadway Musicals, Central Park, and The Empire State Building.

Brooklyn – home to the Brooklyn Bridge, Coney Island, Prospect Park, and Barclay Center.

The area that we recommend most for a NYC girls trip is Manhattan’s Lower East side. It’s trendy, centrally located, yet far enough away from the tourist traps! Because they be trapping in this city.

Why Stay in the Lower East Side for Your Girls Trip to NYC?

The Lower East Side (LES) is one of our favorite NYC neighborhoods for several reasons.

Convenience and Accessibility

Located in the heart of Manhattan, the LES is well-connected to the rest of the city. However, it is still far enough away from the likes of Times Square and Midtown (which are flooded with tourists).

It’s also only a 15-20 min subway ride from Brooklyn, which is a must visit on your NYC girls trip!

So Much Culture

The LES is one of the most culturally and historically rich neighborhoods in the city.

Namely, the area has been a landing spot for immigrants for years and with that has brought a unique blend of cultures. We love to see it!

Diverse Dining Options

If your trip’s agenda includes trying amazing New York City cuisine (which it should), the Lower East Side will not disappoint.

From the cutest coffee shops and bakeries to some of the city’s most sought after restaurants, LES has incredible dining options that cater to every palate and special occasion.

Vibrant Nightlife

Looking for a night out with the girls? The LES is known for having a vibrant nightlife. The area offers everything from chic rooftop bars and live music venues to laid-back lounges and a variety of nightclubs.

It’s the perfect place to dance the night away or enjoy a fun cocktail with the girls.

Shopping and Entertainment

One of our favorite things about the LES is its vintage shopping scene. You’ll find everything from vintage boutiques and indie bookshops to contemporary art galleries.

Spend some time wandering through the streets and you’ll find pop-up shops, local designers, and trendy pieces ranging from all types and price points.

Hotel options in the Lower East side

Now that we’ve landed on the neighborhood, let’s talk housing options! Hotels are abundant in the Lower East Side.

Our top choices when deciding where to stay for an NYC girls trip are:

1. Untitled at 3 Freeman Alley

For a truly unique stay, Untitled at 3 Freeman Alley in the Lower East Side is your go-to.

This place is dripping with urban flavor and artsy vibes, topped off with a rooftop cocktail lounge that’s perfect for evening hangouts.

2. Public Hotel

If you’re looking for a chic spot to crash in the Lower East Side, check out Public Hotel! It’s got cozy rooms, and beautiful common spaces to hang out in between adventures.

Plus, did we mention the rooftop bar? Total vibe—it comes alive at night with killer views and tasty cocktails, making it a must for your girls’ trip.

3. The Ludlow Hotel

The best word to describe this hotel is “cool”. From the artisan-crafted Moroccan lamps in every room, to the marble mosaic bathrooms, this is a hotel you might not want to leave!

Additionally, many of the rooms offer incredible views of the NYC skyline and a trellis-covered garden to welcome guests when they walk in.

4. Hotel Indigo LES

If you’re looking for a pet friendly spot, Hotel Indigo in LES is a great option! The rooms are quaint and they have incredible features and amenities.

Some of the more notable ones include an open-aired heated pool, rotating art installations highlighting local talent, and an onsite restaurant with city views.

5. The Standard East Village

We love this hotel for its thrifty rates. Here you’ll find simple and modern rooms, with brightly colored decor.

In the summer, they open up their outdoor patio called “The Garden” for a delicious brunch and fun drinks. A solid option for a comfortable and “no fuss” stay for your girls trip.

Exploring Other Vibrant Neighborhoods? More Ideas on Where to Stay for an NYC Girls Trip

In the case that LES is not the vibe, here are some other areas when considering where to stay for an NYC girls trip that might tickle your fancy.

    • If you’re looking to be off the beaten path, stay in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
    • If your group is heavily into history, stay in Lower Manhattan.
    • If you want to stay near high-end shops and restaurants, stay in Upper East Side.

If you’re still reading this, we have one message for you. No matter where you choose to stay, ensuring it’s the perfect spot for your NYC Girls Trip will make all the difference in your experience.

    Introducing local love market ✨

Honestly the perfect name for this monthly summer pop-up because it’s oozing with love and local talent!

Located at @honourcoffeempls every month with different vendors featured throughout the summer.

Got to meet so many amazing makers, artists, and entrepreneurs (many of which we hadn’t heard of yet!) and was blown away by the selection at this market.

Definitely one you’ll want to visit before summer ends!

    We 👏🏾 did 👏🏼 that!

Some things are just better with your people…and Tough Mudder is 100% one of them!! We did the Twin Cities Tough Mudder for the first time and not only finished but had the best time doing it!!

Wunmi was 2.5 months postpartum and even that didn’t stop her from showing up, getting it done, and having fun 🤸🏾‍♀️💪🏾.

3 miles, 8 obstacles, a lot of mud!

The coolest part is that you work through the obstacles as a team - with the people you go with AND the strangers you meet along the way who become teammates for the day. The Tough Mudder culture is such a beautiful family, we love that we are now a part of it!

If you’re thinking of signing up for a Tough Mudder, consider this your sign to do it!!

Use code THRIFTY20 for 20% off all 2026 or 2027 Tough Mudder events. Save this so you don’t forget!

We’re hooked. Same time next year, and the year after that. 👯‍♀️
